The Interchange Theater offers classes to folks at all experience levels. Our goal, beyond teaching you improv of course, is to make better improv citizens.

Level 1
Introduction to Longform Improv
This class covers the Basics of longform improv. Students will learn the “tool belt” so when they enter a scene, they can do something! Students will also see how improv can be used in their everyday lives and gain an appreciation for the art form.

Level 2
Intermediate Longform Improv
This class expands the base knowledge of the young improviser. Students will focus on what makes for good and sustainable improv scenes, namely Character, Games, and Scene Work. Focus on expanding these skills will be the emphasis rather than on a specific form. Nevertheless, the skills will lend themselves well to forms like the LaRonde and Tina.

Level 3
Advanced Longform Improv
Students will continue to build on what they’ve learned and focus on a wide array of material that will help them to expand and refine their skills. Teachers will also help students break habits and find new approaches to navigating the stage.
Classes will run Wednesday nights from 6:30-9:00pm starting on Wednesday March 26th, 2025 for Eight (8) weeks, culminating with a Student Showcase in May.
Level 4
Adept Longform Improv
Students will learn and practice the fabled Harold in this level. All the skills that have been acquired in the previous levels will be put to us in this class. Once a student gains the experience of performing the Harold, there is nothing they won’t be able to do on the stage.

Level 5
Pinnacle Longform Improv
Students will go on a journey of starting their own improv team. Students will work together to find a style, pick a name, and work on the business of promoting their team. Teachers will guide students away from pitfalls and continue to sharpen improv skills.

Special Courses
Form Focus: The Armando
Form Focus is a four week intensive study of one longform style. Starting April 23rd, students will learn the ins and outs of The Armando. The Armando is a fascinating and fun longform style where the improv is inspired by true stories.
Classes will run from 6:30 - 9:00pm on Wednesdays beginning on April 23rd. There will be four classes and a student showcase.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is an intensive course, attendance is mandatory for all classes and shows. If you know you will be unable to attend a particular date, please consider signing up for a different session.
PREREQUISITE: This class is only open to students who have completed Interchange Levels 1 - 2. If you have not completed these levels, you are not eligible to enroll in this class.
Musical Improv Intensive
Join Instructors C.J. Guzan & Meaghan Heinrich as they embark with you on a four-week expedition through song, performance, and story which will transform the group into a formidable team that will then perform two LIVE shows during a weekend of excellent comedy performances put on by the Interchange Theater Co-op!
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is an intensive course, attendance is mandatory for all classes and shows. If you know you will be unable to attend a particular date, please consider signing up for a different session.
Our next semester begins in March.
Classes will be on March 16th, 23rd, 30th and April 6th.
Shows will be on April 10th and 11th.
